Diasters of Buffalo Harbor Cruise

Any busy harbor is a dangerous place and Buffalo’s harbor has been no exception. Ships collided, boilers exploded, and fires and explosions were almost commonplace. Join us for a cruise aboard the Miss Buffalo and listen to the stories of many of Buffalo’s maritime disasters and enjoy the scenic views of Buffalo’s waterfront. This tour is being given in partnership with the Buffalo Harbor Museum.

Urban Farm Day Tour

Urban Farm Day is filled with more fun and learning than anyone can imagine! Wonderful arrays of urban gardens will dazzle visitors, as the gardeners themselves enjoy sharing their love of growing.

The day features an entire yard turned into mulched gardens, instruction on how to have chickens on a city lot, and information on the jobs and job training some farms offer.

UB Food Lab hosted an interactive session about its work to ensure that urban agriculture & and urban agriculture policy & serves Black, brown, and refugee communities in Buffalo.

Join us this year for more fun and learning; pick up your week’s produce while talking with truly devoted and enthusiastic gardeners.

Beyond the Glass Wine Tasting & Tour @ Freedom Run Winery

Join us Saturdays at 2 p.m. March, April, and May, for our Beyond the Glass Wine Tasting & Tour, conducted by our winemaker Ryan Sidoti or our vineyard manager Kurt Guba. This dynamic duo is the brains behind our uber-popular First Friday Wine Class, our Wine Club’s exclusive wine collections & events, and of course, Freedom Run Winery’s award-winning wine!

The price for this enhanced experience is $19.95 and includes four wine tastings and a behind-the-scenes look at the winemaking process led by our very own in-house viniculture experts.

After checking in, you will be escorted to an exclusive area in our Barrel & Production Room, which can be viewed from the Tasting Room through a wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling wall of glass.  You will be seated at reserved tables which are set up for 2 up to 10 guests, surrounded by large stainless steel wine tanks, oak barrels and original art created by Richard ‘Sean’ Manning, who is the owner of Freedom Run Winery.

You will then be guided through a 1 hour Beyond the Glass Wine Tasting & Tour, giving you background on the rich history and wide variety of wine produced at Freedom Run Winery.  You will learn more about our harvest and production process including the equipment used to make your favorite glass of wine!

Feel free to stay after the tasting and tour for board games and a glass of your favorite wine, or finish with our artisanal chocolate & sweet wine tasting, or even have a stroll on our Art Walk with your favorite bottle from the tour!

City Hall Tour

Buffalo City Hall is a masterpiece of Art Deco design that is a symbol of the City of Buffalo. Completed in 1931, City Hall features ornamentation celebrating the City of Buffalo and its people, history, and values throughout both its interior and exterior. The lobby features murals by William de Leftwich Dodge, and the Common Council Chambers are highlighted by an extraordinary sunburst skylight. Join us for a free one-hour tour to discover the history and design of this remarkable building. 

City Hall tours are offered daily at noon on weekdays, except for government holidays when City Hall is closed. The tour typically includes the lobby and Common Council Chambers. Certain areas of City Hall may be unavailable on a particular day due to meetings, press conferences, or other events.

The tour meets in the lobby of City Hall by the elevators. Visitors can enter through the Niagara Square (front) or Elmwood Avenue (rear) side of the building. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to go through security so the tour can begin promptly at noon. 

All visitors to City Hall must go through security to enter the building. All persons and packages entering the building are subject to search.

Assembly House is an immersive artwork by Dennis Maher and Assembly House 150 that transforms a historic former church into a continuously evolving architectural dreamworld. Tours guide our guests through this total environment, which consists of an ever-changing ensemble of restored and newly-built architectural fragments, sculptural furnishings, models, and other artifacts, interwoven with layers of the surrounding building. The reimagined church is a place of architectural discovery and inspiration. Each tour provides the unique opportunity to see the latest transformations of the extraordinary interior, as well as projects under construction.

Larkin District Walking Tour

The Larkin District, or Larkinville, is the reborn former home of the Larkin Soap Company. In the early 1900s, the Larkin Company was one of the largest mail order companies in the country, and one of its executives, Darwin D. Martin, was responsible for bringing Frank Lloyd Wright to Buffalo. Today, the former Larkin factories and warehouses have been brought back to life and the area is bustling with activity once again.
