Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis Sullivan, H.H. Richardson, Daniel Burnham, Stanford White, Eliel and Eero Saarinen, the list goes on and on. It's this who's who of modern architecture that has caused more than one critic to resort to seldom used superlatives to describe the buildings and monuments of Buffalo. A case in point: The New York Times recently called Buffalo "home to some of the greatest American architecture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries" and on another occasion "a textbook for a course in modern American buildings."
