BUFFALO, N.Y. – March 10, 2015 – For the second time in as many weeks, the Northtown Center at Amherst will host the New York State Youth Hockey Championships.
A total of 32 tier 3 teams from across New York State will compete from Friday through Sunday, eight teams each from the 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U divisions.
The tournament is free and open to the public. Players and their families will occupy more than 2,500 hotel room nights and the championship has an estimated economic impact of just under $ 1 million.
This championship follows a successful hosting of another round of state hockey championships last weekend. Hundreds of players converged on the Northtown Center from 43 tier 1 and 2 teams. That championship occupied more than 3,000 hotel room nights and generated more than $1 million in economic impact. Combined, the two state championship weekends yielded more than 5,500 hotel room nights and nearly $2 million in economic impact for the region.
