Our Social Network Runs on Water.

No visit to the Queen City would be complete without a trip to our newly-reinvigorated dockside attractions. Rising from its historic stature as a transportation hub at the confluence of Lake Erie, the Niagara River, Buffalo River and Erie Canal, Canalside is the jewel in our waterfront crown.

The result of over $300 million in new development, Canalside hosts over 1,000 annual events. Every summer, outdoor yoga and fitness classes, festivals, maker markets, light shows, concerts and countless other free events take place along the district’s Central Wharf. The boardwalk at Canalside is your gateway to seeing Buffalo’s best by water. Hop on a kayak, stand up paddleboard or water bike, sail Lake Erie on the Spirit of Buffalo schooner, explore Buffalo’s industrial heritage on a Buffalo River History Tour, or step aboard huge military vessels at the nation’s largest inland naval park. And check here for other ways to get on the water.

But the fun doesn’t stop at summer’s end. Each winter, throngs of visitors flock to the Ice @ Canalside , a 35,000 square foot rink on the recreated Erie Canal that features, skating, curling, pond hockey and ice bikes. Across the street, LECOM HarborCenter attracts amateur and college hockey tournaments to its two NHL sized rinks. And sports and food fanatics flock to the two-story (716) Food & Sport that features over 70 televisions, including a 38-foot tall screen for the big games.
