Commemorating the 100th anniversary of America’s entry into World War I in 1917, this exhibit looks back to a critical time in our nation’s history, emphasizing Buffalo’s role in the war. Central to this exhibition is the Library’s extraordinary collection of World War I posters, representing some of the finest graphically designed war propaganda from the United States, Canada and Europe.

Christmas Over the Tavern

A World Premiere musical from acclaimed playwright and Buffalo native, Tom Dudzick, that features an all-new holiday story ABOUT Buffalo’s favorite family, the Pazinskis, from his OVER THE TAVERN series.  Christmas 1959 is not very merry for the Pazinskis.  Dad is going through a mid-life depression and refuses to buy a Christmas tree. Sister Clarissa is threatening to expel 12-year-old Rudy for performing a blasphemous one-man Nativity Scene where he plays all the characters as Hollywood celebrities and everyone is worried this may be their last Christmas together as a whole family.

Who are we? What are our values and how are they formed? How do we imagine our future? These questions arise from a complex and often contradictory set of experiences and circumstances, ranging from our engagement with popular culture to our political debates, physical environment, and the historical narratives that shape our sense of self.

PBN’s City Hall tour is a FREE guided walking tour that takes you through one of Buffalo’s most significant architectural treasures. One of the largest city halls in America, this tour will give you the opportunity to see this Art Deco masterpiece inside and out. The tour normally includes the lobby, Common Council Chambers, the Mayor’s Office, and the best view of Buffalo on the Observation Deck.  The tour meets in the lobby of City Hall, no reservations required!
