National Geographic Speaker Series: Wild Wolves of Yellowstone with Doug Smith

National Geographic Explorer and wildlife biologist Doug Smith worked at Yellowstone National Park for nearly three decades, hired to reintroduce wolves into the Park, hoping to restore the Park’s ecosystem. This success led him to spearhead the Yellowstone Wolf Project, one of the most prominent wolf research programs in the world.

Star Wars Night at the Ballpark

One of the ballpark’s signature nights is set to return in 2024! Star Wars Night Epsidoe XV, presented by Alfred State College, is Saturday, May 25 as the Herd takes on the St. Paul Saints with a 6:05 p.m. first pitch from Sahlen Field.

This night is a must-attend for both baseball and Star Wars fans of all ages! Even before the Bisons take the field, fans rush to Sahlen Field to enjoy Fan Costumer Appearances throughout the ballpark’s concourse as soon as ballpark gates open (Gates: 4:30 p.m.). We’ll also have commemorative Laser Sword available for purchase, with proceeds to benefit Compass House, while the Bisons players will wear custom-made The Mandalorian Star Wars Jerseys as they face the Saints (raffle info TBA).

Of course, the night doesn’t end until a thrilling Postgame Show that includes one of the largest Fireworks Shows of the season!

Springville Art Crawl

For one day out of the year, Main Street, Springville becomes an art gallery, with artwork in every business, music in surprising corners and interactive art activities sprinkled throughout.  There will be free activity for all ages throughout the National Register Historic District.  Once 8:30pm hits, the after-party begins at Springville Center for the Arts, located at 37 North Buffalo Street.  Refreshments will be provided in the Olmsted Gallery which features the Spring Community Exhibit.  “Crawlers” vote on their favorite artist by ballot and the award is presented.

Buffalo Niagara Dragon Boat Festival

See the majestic sport of Dragon Boat Racing at the Hope Chest’s annual Buffalo Niagara Dragon Boat FestivalSM. Join us for a day of dragon boat racing and fun-filled activities for the whole family.  Dragon boating is a boat of 20 paddlers, a drummer and a steer person. It is a team sport that requires power, speed, synchronization and endurance. Participant skills range from novice to competitive though no experience is required. Teams will represent local Western New York corporations, breast cancer survivors, police forces, firemen, and other community organizations.

Independence Eve with the Buffalo Bisons

The absolute best WNY summer tradition returns to Sahlen Field. Join us on Wednesday, July 3rd for the 28th Annual KeyBank Independence Eve Celebration with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Largest Fireworks Show as the Bisons host the Rochester Red Wings (6:05 p.m.)!!!

Since the event began in 1995, nearly a half a million fans have joined their fellow citizens at Sahlen Field to celebrate our nation’s birthday and pay tribute to everything that makes the USA the greatest country in the world! It’s a can’t miss event that’s fun for the whole family!

The KeyBank Independence Eve Celebration features the best that America has to offer. Our national pastime played out between two great rivals. Then after the games, sit back and enjoy a great post game concert from the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Of course, no KeyBank Independence Eve concert would be complete without several numbers to honor our brave servicemen and servicewomen.

After a feast for the ears, get your eyes ready to be amazed. As the concert ends, the Largest Fireworks Show of the Season begins.
