Colored Musicians Club Sunday Jam Session – April

Tree Trek – Arbor Day Tree Tour

Celebrate Arbor Day weekend by visiting some of the trees in our collection! The Botanical Gardens is home to a nationally recognized arboretum with over 100 species of trees and shrubs. Joe Mannion, Director of Horticulture for the Botanical Gardens, will take participants on a lively walking tour showcasing some collection highlights, share the basics of tree identification and more! This Gardens Exclusive includes general admission to the Botanical Gardens and a walking tour of trees both indoors and outside in the surrounding landscape. Wear comfortable shoes/boots that you don’t mind getting muddy. This walk takes place rain or shine!

Solar New Year Celebration

Solar New Year is usually Celebrated each year on the April 13 th or the 14th. The day celebrates the Sun’s passage through all twelve signs, from the fire sign Aries to the water sign Pisces. According to the Hindu solar calendar, the Sun spends one lunar month in each zodiac sign. It is believed that participating in acts of kindness or offering charity on this day will help one eliminate all sins.
Countries that celebreate Solar New Year are:
India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Mauritius, Parts of Pakistan & Afghanistan and Singapore.
 
In addition, there will be a traditional Indian Classical Dance Presentation by Janane SethuNarayana on Solar New Year by Kala Seva Arts & Cultural Society, Inc

In Harmony: An Evening of Music and Architecture

In celebration of our inaugural exhibition, we will be hosting an intimate concert with the Buffalo Chamber Players. The celebrated chamber music ensemble will perform a selection of music inspired by Thought-Built: The Imperial Hotel at 100, including works by composers Tōru Takemitsu, Claude Debussy, and Maurice Ravel.

4-6 p.m. – Visit Thought Built: The Imperial Hotel at 100, then browse the Museum Store for unique Japanese-inspired gifts.

 6-7 p.m. – Enjoy hearty hors d’oeuvres, beer, and wine in the Greatbatch Pavilion.

 7-8 p.m. – Take your seat and marvel in the music of the Buffalo Chamber Players.

National Geographic Speaker Series: Wild Wolves of Yellowstone with Doug Smith

National Geographic Explorer and wildlife biologist Doug Smith worked at Yellowstone National Park for nearly three decades, hired to reintroduce wolves into the Park, hoping to restore the Park’s ecosystem. Buffalo Pride Festival

This is the main event!  No other event in WNY touches such a varied and large demographic cross-section of residents and visitors, while bringing neighbors together to celebrate pride in our community.  Immediately following the Parade, join us for a vibrant celebration of WNY’s LGBTQ+ community, featuring entertainment, family activities, food and beverages, live performances and nonprofit and retail vendors. And while you’re at it, bring some new faces! Invite friends and family who haven’t experienced the Festival to come and see what it’s all about.

Designed for an open lot with the surrounding landscape, changing sunlight, and architecture providing the visual context, CrossWalk takes place at an intersection where ideas, visuals and cultures meet and converge in a conceptual fashion world featuring community members as models. CrossWalk is a site-based performance and fashion installation designed for the intersection of Wilson St. and Paderewski Dr. behind Torn Space Theater featuring collaborating fashion designers, models, and community members as performers.
