Velvet Bethany with Stress Dolls, Tsunami Tsurprise
7:00pm Doors, 8pm Show
Velvet Bethany is an uptempo punk rock band with hints of power pop and jangly rock n roll. Beginning in 2014 as a solo act, Allison Mitchell works with a community of musicians, resulting in a wide range of musical influences, while staying true to her punk rock roots. The current lineup includes Gun Robo’s Thomas Bornholdt on guitar and Andrew BIggie on bass. Mike D continues to slam on the drums. Allison leads the band on vocals and electric guitar. They will perform a collection of new jams and old favorites.
Stress Dolls is the moniker of Chelsea O’Donnell, an alt/pop/rock artist from Buffalo. Initially calling herself Wolf, O’Donnell has played in Buffalo and surrounding areas both solo and with bands since 2013. She has performed shows opening for artists such as Dan Andriano (Alkaline Trio), Matt Pryor (Get Up Kids), Keep Flying, and Vision Video. Her sound has been described as “Joni Mitchell meets Nirvana.” When playing with a band, Stress Dolls is Jordan Smith (lead guitar), Josh English (drums), TJ Luckman (bass), and Sally Schaefer (violin).
Buffalo-based surf punk group Tsunami Tsurprise has burst onto their local scene with their first official release. The group formed in the fall of 2019 at SUNY Fredonia, bonding over their shared love of surf music, sludgy riffs, and old horror movies. With the addition of their new vocalist, Megan Munro, the band has reinvented itself while staying true to their roots. You can listen to their debut album now on all streaming platforms and find their music video for the track “Creature from the Black Rangoon” on Youtube today.
