Swing and jazz band Squirrel Nut Zippers comes to the Performing Arts Center on Friday, November 10, at 8:00 p.m. First gaining national attention in the mid-1990s with an appearance on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Squirrel Nut Zippers jumped on the scene with their quicky mix of jazz chords, folk music, and punk rock leanings. The band’s second album, Hot, became their first major commercial success, selling more than 3 million albums. The group went on to perform on notable stages and broadcasts, including Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve celebration, Carnegie Hall with Tony Bennett, and Bill Clinton’s Presidential Inaugural Ball, and even had a custom animated video made by The Simpsons. Their 2018 album, Beasts of Burgundy, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart, and their 2020 release “Lost Songs of Doc Souchon” has a combination of new original material with their take on songs from long ago. Don’t miss Squirrel Nut Zippers as they present Jazz from the Back O’ Town live at the Buffalo State Performing Arts Center.
