200 years ago, on June 4, 1825, General Lafayette came to Buffalo as part of his return visit to the United States. This tour commemorates his visit as we remember what happened that day and the impact it had on our city. Our tour begins on the grounds where General Lafayette stayed overnight, and we will spotlight the history surrounding Lafayette Square. Join us as we reenact a historic event in Buffalo.
The tour meets outside the Liberty Building at 424 Main St., Buffalo at 5:00 pm. This tour will be 50 to 60 minutes in length. Those who wish for a full reenactment may meet The American Friends of Lafayette group at Canalside at 4:00pm when they arrive on the Seneca Chief with a Lafayette reenactor. From there they will walk to Lafayette Square.
