The UB Music Department is proud to announce the details for the annual, world-renowned composer festival called June in Buffalo, under the new directorship of UB faculty member and cellist Jonathan Golove.

The Festival, which traditionally accepts 25 accomplished student composers from all over the world by way of a large and competitive pool of applicants, also boasts the week-long residency of five distinguished faculty composers each year.  This year, Ann Cleare, Jonathan Golove, Robert H.P. Platz, Mathew Rosenblum and Melinda Wagner will serve as mentors to the students throughout the week in coaching sessions, lectures and rehearsals while also enjoying performances of some of their own work.

Performances are offered by ensembles and individual musicians who specialize in the performance of very recent music.  This year’s line up of artists includes the return of the famed Arditti Quartet from London, UB’s resident chamber collective The Slee Sinfonietta, as well as The Talujon Percussion Quartet and The [Switch~ Ensemble].  The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra is an annual participant in the Festival, typically performing the closing concert each year.  This year, they will open the Festival on Tuesday evening, June 6th at the Center for the Arts.
