Joshua’s Boots

Experience Joshua’s Boots, a rootin’, tootin’ Western of an opera in one act, complete with saloon singers and dancers, cowpokes and cowboy songs, and life on a long, lonely and dangerous cattle drive. Composed by Adolphus Hailstork with libretto by Susan Kander, this spirited work tells the tale of a Black boy in the post-Civil War era who overcomes prejudice to become a cowboy, finally winning a pair of handsome boots. Conducted by Jaman Dunn-Danger and directed by Joelle Lachance, Joshua’s Boots features Holden Turner in the title role and X’zaya Ivy portraying both Mama and Sallie Fingers. The opera will be sung in English.
