First Presbyterian Church

This magnificent Richardson Romanesque church is the work of Edward B. Green and William Wicks, one of Buffalo’s most prestigious architectural firms. The Medina sandstone church was begun in 1889 and completed in 1891. The soaring tower, a landmark on the West Side of Buffalo, was completed in 1897. The Byzantine columns that frame the front entrance prepare the visitor for the extraordinary interior with its vibrant windows by Tiffany, the Ford Company and Mary Tillinghast, as well as the stenciled iconography on the walls and dome.
