Just five years ago, there were only a few microbreweries in and around Buffalo. Today, there are over a dozen.
Buffalo’s craft beer scene has exploded in the last three years, with Big Ditch, 42 North, 12 Gates, Resurgence, Rusty Nickel, Old First Ward, the satellite Community Beer Works brewery at Hydraulic Hearth and Hamburg Brewing all opening. And there’s more to come. Many of these breweries are reinvigorating historically industrial areas of Buffalo and becoming part of the city’s rebirth. They’re also building off a proud history of brewing in the Queen City that dates back well over a century.
We’ve been gradually profiling these breweries in a series of “Buffalo. For Real” TV videos. Our newest below highlights newcomers Hamburg and Big Ditch as well as Buffalo microbrewery pioneer Flying Bison, which opened a new facility last fall. Watch the first and second installments of this beer series here and here.
