8 FANtastic Places to Watch the Game

It’s gameday! Whether it’s the Bills or the Sabres, Buffalo is a tried and true sports town. Known for our loyal fan bases, epic tailgate experiences at Bills games and reputation as Hockey Heaven down and around Key Bank Center, an in-person experience, surrounded by screaming fans just can’t be topped.

But maybe you couldn’t get tickets, or the teams are out of town, or maybe the hootin’ and hollerin’ of the stadium experience just isn’t for you. No worries – we’ve got you covered. When you can’t get to the game, pony up to any of these establishments, where the sports are always on to watch the hometown teams snatch the W:

(716) Food & Sport: Let’s start with the place where bigger is better! Located within HARBORCENTER, in close proximity to Key Bank Center, and built by Bills & Sabres owner, Terry Pegula, this place knows sports. Boasting nine TVs behind the bar, including a two-story, 38-foot projection screen, your worries of watching multiple games at once are a thing of the past.

Acropolis:  You’ll find loyal gameday supporters and patrons that live in the surrounding Elmwood Village at this Greek eatery. Before Bills games, grab a table and order brunch (plus a round of mimosas) to get you in the sports spirit. Just make sure you arrive early as this unassuming restaurant gets packed on game days.

Bada Bing: Grab your closest friends and gather around Bada Bing’s Jumbotron. A ginormous TV filled box that resembles the video board hanging over the ice at Key Bank Center. With all of the sports packages, Sunday Ticket, Center Ice, UFC and boxing, there’s always a reason to pop in to this Chippewa bar.

Colter Bay: Recently re-opened by local beer connoisseur, Mike Shatzel, Colter Bay has all of the craft beer selection you’ve come to expect from a Shatzel joint AND a revamped food menu. The warm, lodgy atmosphere is perfect for a wintry Sunday Bills experience.

Big Ditch Brewery: The new downtown hangout, you’ll find plenty of jersey-clad patrons here when the Sabres are on the ice. Ranked one of New York State’s best breweries, the tasty beers are always flowing at Big Ditch. You’ll be hoping for overtime just so you can stay a little longer!

Sports City Pizza Pub: Owners of Kenmore’s Gr8 Pizza, Sports City Pizza Pub on Niagara Street is the classic sports bar; 24 beers on tap, thirteen flat screen TVs and, of course, pizza. With a large space able to accommodate huge parties, this is the go-to, family friendly sports outing location.

Riverworks: An absolutely massive space situated along the Buffalo River and in the heart of Buffalo’s historic grain elevator district, you’ll be enthralled during the game with plenty of entertainment, food and drinks to keep you busy during halftime. PS – keep an eye out for their brewery coming next year!

Bar-Bill Tavern: East Aurora’s premier wing and beef on weck destination is loaded for gameday. Come early to grab a table at this cash-only locale or step up to the bar for a frosty pint. And be ready to sing the “Shout” song when the Bills rack up the points. Hey-ey-ey-ey, let’s go Buffalo!
