Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!
The Buffalo Museum of Science presents SNOW, an exhibit highlighting the wonders of Winter
December 19, 2007 - The Buffalo Museum of Science presents SNOW, an exhibit experience that showcases some of the natural science behind winter weather. It will also highlight the story of “the godfather of snow” Wilson Bentley who, in the early days of the new science of photography, figured out how to microscopically photograph the intricate structure of snowflakes. The SNOW exhibit will showcase thousands of his photographic works and his daily weather logs that he kept throughout his life.
The exhibit will also feature natural and man-made artifacts from the Science Museum’s collections, on loan from the Rochester Museum and Science Center and the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society which tell the story of how animals and people over time have evolved to adapt to winter climates. There are also numerous interactive discovery activities—from simulated ice fishing to a crystal-growing station—fun for the whole family!
The Buffalo Museum of Science is a non-profit educational institution dedicated to the study and interpretation of the natural and physical sciences. Its extensive collections of over 600,000 specimens and artifacts represent all facets of the natural world with an emphasis on Western New York as well as man-made objects spanning the globe.
