Buffalo offers something for all ages and tastes on New Year’s Eve

December 19, 2007 - On New Year’s Eve, downtown Buffalo is the place to be.  Offering numerous entertainment options for young and old, anyone can participate in the excitement as Buffalo welcomes 2008.   

First Night Buffalo fireworksFor those that prefer a more traditional New Year’s celebration, this year marks the 20th annual ball drop from the Electric Tower in Roosevelt Square.  Attracting more than 40,000 people a year, this is the biggest party of the year in Downtown Buffalo.  There will be a fireworks display and a brand-new Jumbotron screen that will take a look back at the year.  With close proximity to Buffalo’s Chippewa Entertainment District, Downtown Buffalo’s after-party will bustle until last call at 4 a.m

First Night Buffalo attracts more than 5000 people every year on New Year’s Eve at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.  Featuring a wide variety of visual and performing arts, music and dance, sports activities and children’s entertainment, First Night is a drug and alcohol free event that serves as a healthy holiday alternative to New Year’s Eve celebrations.  

This year’s festivities are set to include interactive dance, poetry, comedy, puppet shows and theatrical performances.  Children’s activities including costumed characters, obstacle challenges, bounce houses and jugglers.
