Roll Out The Carol

Jerry Darlak

Traditional Polish carols called "kolendy" as well as American standards will be performed along the way. Tour participants will also learn about the rich history of Buffalo's Polonia District and about centuries-old Polish Christmas traditions such as the Christmas Eve “Wigilia” dinner and the breaking of the “oplatek,” a Polish Christmas wafer.

Buffalo’s Jerry Darlak and the Touch are one of the nation's premier polka bands.  Earlier this month, The Touch received its third Grammy nomination for their album "Back to Back Hall of Fame Polkas." Jerry Darlak and the band will be traveling to Los Angeles in February 2009 with the hopes of bringing a Grammy back to Western New York.

The cost of the evening is $30 per person and includes a home-cooked Polish meal, prize giveaways, bus transportation and guided tour. For more information or to reserve a seat, visit www.ForgottenBuffalo.com, e-mail ForgottenBuffalo@aol.com or call (716) 833-5211 by Thursday, December 18th.

Proceeds of this special Forgotten Buffalo Tour will benefit the work of Sister Johnice and the St. Adalbert's Response to Love Center in Buffalo. Response to Love operates one of the area’s largest food pantries and is staffed by volunteers and supervised by Felician sisters.

Founded in 2007, ForgottenBuffalo.com Tours specialize in the unique aspects of our region’s history. Tours are created and led by television personality Maxwell Truth, host of Off Beat Cinema, and trained Buffalo architecture and history docent Marty Biniasz. Each tour is specifically researched and crafted to give patrons a sense why Buffalo Niagara is one of the most unique urban communities in the world.
