The Wright Time to See Graycliff

Graycliff

A short 25-minute drive from the city, Graycliff was the summer retreat of Darwin and Isabelle Martin. This Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home combines the simplicity and calmness of splendid architecture amidst acres of grounds overlooking Lake Erie. Built between 1926-1929, the estate is a complex of three buildings that includes the small Heat Hut, the 3,100 square-foot Foster House and the 6,500 square-foot Isabelle R. Martin House, all set amidst eight and a half acres of rolling lawns and gardens also designed by Wright.

For more information, visit www.graycliff.bfn.org. Reservations are necessary and can be made at 716-947-9217. Standard, docent-led tours are approximately 1.25 hours. All tours are weather permitting.

For additional architecture tours this holiday season, Buffalo Tours will also extend its schedule with “Inside Downtown,” a look at downtown Buffalo’s notable landmarks and “Legendary Lincoln Parkway,” taking visitors through one of the most beautiful avenues in Olmsted’s park system. Every Tuesday, “The Buffalo Story” takes you through the stunning backdrop for many of Buffalo’s most important stories and the daily “City Hall” tour offers a look into the Art-Deco masterpiece, both inside and out.
