Grand Opening at the Burchfield Penney

Burchfield Penney Art Center

Designed by Gwathmey Siegel and Associates Architects, the $33 million art center is one of the largest regional art museums in the country.

Along with the opening of the brand new building, 12 exhibitions will be unveiled that celebrate the history, diversity, and beauty of Western New York art.  The work of more than 100 artists will be featured in the distinctive gallery spaces of the new Burchfield Penney Art Center. 

The grand opening celebration begins on Saturday and continues through Sunday afternoon.  Nonstop events at the gallery include artist talks, workshops, lectures, poetry readings, dance performances and stargazing. 

The celebration continues with free admission to the Burchfield Penney November 22nd-30th, with a special Elmwood Museum District event on Friday, November 28th from 3-10 p.m.  At this time, the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, and the Burchfield-Penney Art Center will offer free admission and special entertainment. The Museum Shop and the boutiques along Elmwood Avenue will also be open late for holiday shopping.
