Haunted History
During this Halloween and Harvest season, learn about the hidden secrets of Western New York through several walking tours led by author, researcher and “supernatural historian” Mason Winfield. Through his “Haunted History Ghostwalks” and “Haunted Pubcrawls,” neighborhood folklore, mysteries and little known scary facts are divulged by this paranormal expert and brought into the light.
Focusing on historic architecture and preservation (and a bit of the unexplained), these 90-minute walks delve deep into the heritage of these neighborhoods. Beginning at 7 p.m., the Buffalo walks take place in the Allentown District (Fridays through Oct. 31) and Theatre District (Saturdays, through Oct. 25). The City of Buffalo has a rich history of unexplained occurrences, dating back to the 19th century. In East Aurora, walks take place Saturdays through Oct. 25, Wednesday nights in Orchard Park, and Thursday nights in Williamsville. Adults are $10 and children are $5.
The Haunted Pub Crawl is a giant “ghost” walk, focusing on the historic pubs and inns of the area. After taking the tour and hearing the ghost stories, participants are welcomed into a variety of pubs and restaurants that offer drinks, dinner specials, appetizers and other refreshments and have time to socialize. The last Allentown Pub Crawl of the season takes place on Thursday, October 30th and the East Aurora Pub Crawl takes place on Saturday, October 25th.
