The Sweet Sounds Of Summer

Babik

The Elmwood Village, noted as one of America’s Top 10 Neighborhoods by the American Planning Association, celebrates summer in grand style with a series of outdoor concerts set in the middle of Frederick Law Olmsted’s Bidwell Parkway. Situated amongst the Parkway’s lush median and beautiful Victorian homes, the location is just one reason why The Elmwood Village Association’s Summer Concert Series is a “must-do” event on Buffalo’s social calendar. From orchestra to jazz to reggae, the Summer Concert Series has something for everyone.

Tuesday, July 8th - Neville Francis & the Riddim Posse (reggae)
Tuesday, July 15th – Babik (jazz)
Tuesday, July 22nd – Outer Circle Orchestra (world beat)
Tuesday, July 29th – Latin Jazz Project (jazz)
Tuesday, August 5th – Doug Yeomans on the Lo Blu Flame (blues)

The University at Buffalo also has its own summertime fete on Tuesday nights called “UB on the Green.” Every Tuesday, from July 22 to August 12, the “UB on the Green” series celebrates great artists, hands-on activities, demonstrations and workshops for all. Held on the lawn in front of Hayes Hall at the University at Buffalo’s South Campus, this series is a free, family friendly festival of music, dance and fun. Attendees can feel free to bring food and beverage, and a lawn chair, in order to enjoy the evening. This summer schedule is:

Tuesday, July 22nd – Iacono Dance Company – WNY’s original Ballroom and Latin dance company.
Steve Lucky & the Rhumba Bums – Jump and jive to their “little big band” sound.

Tuesday, July 29th – Outer Circle Orchestra – Buffalo’s original World Beat collective.
DanceBrazil – An electrifying hybrid of Afro-Brazilian martial arts with modern and ballet dance.
