Big Pig Gig

If You Give a Pig a Party

The Theatre of Youth (TOY) is a unique playhouse that dedicates all of its productions to young people and families. It will complete its 36th season with a colorful and lively musical about friendship, entitled “If You Give a Pig a Party,” based on the best-selling children’s book by Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond, authors of “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.”

“If You Give a Pig a Party” is the story of a pig that throws a party and asks for balloons.  When you give her balloons, she wants a lovely party dress . . . followed by decorations, invitations, and more and more! When she’s finished, she calls all of her friends- Mouse, Moose, Dog, Cat and Snake for games, snacks and treats. When the party ends, it’s just the beginning of another party! Kenneth Shaw, TOY’s Resident Set and Costume Designer, describes the show as having a set that is “literallya big party, with a fun and airy atmosphere that will quickly draw very young children into the feeling of the show.”

“If You Give a Pig a Party” opens Friday, May 9th and continues throughout Sunday, June 1st. It is recommended for ages 4 and above.

The shows also feature an interactive talkback after each performance. Members of the cast engage the audience in a conversation from the stage.

TOY is the resident company of the historic Allendale Theatre, built in 1913. It is located at 203 Allen Street, in Buffalo.  For tickets, call the Theatre of Youth Box Office at 716-884-4400 x304. Group rates are available.  For further information, visit www.theatreofyouth.org.
