Over the rainbow . . . and beyond

Over the Rainbow at MusicalFare Theatre

If you love the “Wizard of Oz” and Judy Garland’s memorable songs of the musical, MusicalFare Theatre’s final production of the 2007-2008 season, “Beyond the Rainbow,” should be first on your list of musicals to see this spring.

“Beyond the Rainbow” tells the tragic and memorable story of award-winning actress Judy Garland. First recognized for her childhood performance of “Over the Rainbow” and remembered for her untimely early death, this musical fills in the gaps of her notable years in between.   Set during her legendary 1961 Carnegie Hall concert, the musical features many of her hit songs including “The Man That Got Away,” “That’s Entertainment!,” “Get Happy,” “The Trolley Song,” and, of course, “Over the Rainbow.”

“Beyond the Rainbow” is a unique musical in that it takes the audience into one of the most important moments in the life of Garland while also telling the story through songs of one of Hollywood’s original icons.

The performance schedule is April 23rd – May 25th. There will be a special “half-price preview” on Tuesday, April 22nd at 7pm. Meet-the-cast talkbacks take place after all Wednesday performances EXCEPT opening night, April 23rd.
