Bass guitar icon Victor Wooten to perform at Buffalo State College
March 25, 2008 - Bass guitar icon Victor Wooten will debut his new album on Saturday, April 5th at 8 p.m. at the Performing Arts center at Rockwell Hall on Buffalo State College’s campus. Part of the 2007-2008 Great Performers Series presented by M&T Bank, Wooten is regarded as one of the most influential bassists in the world. Wooten has had a highly successful career spanning more than two decades, and has six solo recordings. He is also a composer, arranger, producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known for his longstanding collaborative relationship with the Grammy winning Bela Fleck & The Flecktones.
His latest solo recording, “Palmystery” will be released on April 1, 2008. This album combines the multifaceted talent of Wooten and features jazz, funk, pop, soul and gospel.
Wooten’s solo career of over a decade has produced numerous albums including the Grammy nominated “Yin-Yang” in 1999 and two-disc “Live in America” in 2001. He has won two Nashville Music Awards for Bassist of the Year and is the only three-time winner of Bass Player Magazine’s Bass Player of the Year award. Besides his renowned collaboration with Bela Fleck, Wooten has also recorded and performed with artists such as Dave Matthews, Gov’t Mule and Bruce Hornsby.
