The Ultimate Buffalo-Toronto Sports Weekend

Buffalo Bandits

HSBC Arena will be the site of a cross-border showdown between Buffalo and Toronto’s hockey and lacrosse teams.

February 21, 2008 - Buffalo and Toronto have a long and complicated relationship. Only a 90-minute car ride separates the municipalities, which allows citizens from both cities to explore and enjoy their neighbor. Buffalonians love visiting Toronto for its unique neighborhoods, entertainment and professional sports. The folks from Toronto enjoy Buffalo’s shopping, skiing and Buffalo Bills games. Things get really interesting, however, when the sports teams from both cities get together.

On Friday, March 21st the Buffalo Sabres and their rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs will “get it on” at the HSBC Arena in downtown Buffalo. Both teams are duking it out for one of the eight spots available in the NHL’s Eastern Division playoff race. With the NHL’s regular season ending the first week of April, this game will have major playoff implications. By attending this game, you’ll see a prime example why Buffalo Sabres games were rated the “best value in sports” by The Sporting News. Tickets for the game can be purchased at www.tickets.com or www.sabres.com

The next night, “The Hottest Game on Turf” takes center stage at the HSBC Arena when the Buffalo Bandits go head-to-head with the Toronto Rock in National Lacrosse League action. If you have never seen a professional lacrosse game, you are missing out on fast pace scoring, spectacular passing, bone-crunching hits, and a thunderous crowd participation. Quite simply, there’s nothing like this in professional sports. Tickets for the game can be purchased at www.tickets.com or www.bandits.com

You can make this the ultimate sports weekend by staying overnight in one of many downtown Buffalo hotels while attending one or both games. Visit www.visitbuffaloniagara.com for hotel information.
