Dirty Dozen Brass Band brings a little of the Big Easy to Buffalo; Artvoice Mardi Gras Parade makes Fat Tuesday a night to remember
January 24, 2008 - Get the New Orleans theme started early with the Mardi Gras Jam on Friday, February 1st. The final concert in the Big Easy in Buffalo series will feature over 6 hours of live music with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. at Town Ballroom. To add to the New Orleans flavor of the night, authentic New Orleans food will be prepared by Chef Dale Holt. Bringing in such nationally renowned acts as the Dirty Dozen Brass Band from Thursday at the Square, New Orleans jam band Papa grows Funk and Buffalo’s own Great Train Robbery, the bands will perform traditional Louisianan music. Buffalo becomes Bourbon Street on Tuesday, February 5th, 2008. The 13th annual seven-mile Artvoice Mardi Gras Parade will begin at 5 p.m. at Lincoln Parkway behind the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and continue throughout the streets of Buffalo, winding through the Elmwood, Allen and Chippewa Districts before ending at Symphony Circle. Complete with floats and colorfully decorated vehicles, thousands flock to the City for a guaranteed good time. Afterwards, celebrate Fat Tuesday in the Chippewa Entertainment District as the dozens of bars and clubs that line the street open their doors early to make way for one of the hottest party nights of the year. Chippewa Street is known as one of the most condensed entertainment venue streets in the nation, chocked full of bars and clubs.
