Work hard. Play harder. That’s my motto.
Most of us devote 40 hours a week or more to the company that’s paying our bills. So, to counter all of that we need to make it a priority to cut loose and enjoy what hours remain in our week/weekend. Working at Visit Buffalo Niagara is quite possibly one of the best gigs in town and I must admit that oftentimes working and playing can blend together, but that doesn’t stop me from making a weekend hit-list every Wednesday. If you need some suggestions on a few things to do, here’s what’s I’m thinking about checking out this week in the BUF:
1. Great Pumpkin Farm & Fall Festival
This one is a must. Time is a-ticking on this autumnal experience so consider packing up your lil’ pumpkins and head straight for the cider donuts, pumpkin-pie eating contest or the Witches Brew bar (all depends on what sort of week you had I guess.)
2. OktoberFest at Thin Man Brewery
Bust out the lederhosen and dash on over to Elmwood Avenue to partake in some beer drinking, stein hoisting and schnitzel eating for a communal celebration of this age-old tradition. (Bonus Tip: Get your tickets in advance to save a few bucks.)
3. Mum exhibit at the Botanical Gardens
I don’t exactly have a green thumb, but I appreciate those that do! Get in all your fall feels and enjoy the colors of the season inside the Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens at their annual Mum exhibit.
4. Bunnicula at Theatre of Youth
Pack up your pint-size theatre buffs for this weekend’s production of ‘Bunnicula’. (Bonus tip: After the show, head over to Cantina Loco for a late-afternoon snack (perfect time to take kids since it won’t be too busy.))
5. Allentown Fall Fest
One of Buffalo’s favorite neighborhoods is celebrating the changing of the seasons this Saturday from 10am-6pm. The weather looks PERFECT so stop down for food, drinks, local artists, musicians and great company!
