Lake Erie Wine Country Itinerary
You’ve got a big day ahead of you, so when you leave your hotel in downtown Buffalo, make SPoT Coffee your first stop. Locals swear by SPoT’s “Mike” breakfast sandwich and their espresso has just the kick you need.
Then make your way to the Our Lady of Victory Basilica, a gorgeously ornate church built in 1925. Just around the corner, you’ll find the elegant glass-domed Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens, which sits in Buffalo’s Frederick Law Olmsted-designed South Park.
Hungry already? Grab an early lunch at Curly’s, run by the husband and wife chef duo of Krista and Kirk Van Wagner. In our hearts, Curly’s Jamaican jerk sauce is only matched by their decadent chocolate mousse in a bag.
Next, head along the shores of Lake Erie to Frank Lloyd Wright’s magnificent Graycliff Estate, which served as the summer home for turn-of-the-century Buffalo businessman Darwin Martin and his wife, Isabelle.
And now, it’s time to hit Lake Erie Wine Country to taste their broad range of wines. Click here for more information about the 12 stops in New York State.
Finally, treat yourself to dinner at Daniel’s in Hamburg or the historic Roycroft Inn in the quaint village of East Aurora. Each offers an excellent fine dining experience and a well-chosen wine list.
