Buffalo’s “Green” Hospitality Initiative

The Buffalo Niagara Convention & Visitors Bureau has begun work with hospitality partners to review current environmental practices and establish a more comprehensive green plan for the industry. The hospitality industry will look to improve in the areas of waste management, energy savings, food production and disposal, water savings, environmentally safe cleaning products, paints, and office practices.GMIC memberBuffalo's Green Hospitality Initiative

Our Policy:

  • Reuse/Recycle whenever possible
  • Rent hybrid cars when available
  • Stay in “Green” hotels when available
  • Turn off all electronics when leaving the office
  • Use bulk or reusable beverage/food containers
  • Use reusable serving utensils
  • Use electronic communication whenever possible instead of paper
  • Use recycled products whenever possible
  • Print on both sides of the paper
  • Recycle printer cartridges
  • Buy from local independent vendors for food and manufactured products
  • Give back by participating in an offset program
  • Recycle meeting lanyards and other convention supplies
  • Provide recycling receptacles in visible and accessible areas
