Entitled Milestones of Science: Books That Shook the World!, the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library is proud to offer, in its largest-ever exhibition, a selection of the 35 most significant rare books in the Milestones of Science collection. The exhibition is organized by ten science-related disciplines/themes. Alongside the magnificent books on display are attractive graphics and immersive information on the authors and the revolutionary ideas posed through their publications. This new exhibit at the library’s Central branch: Buildings From Books, Books From Buildings, focuses on an outstanding collection of rare and exquisitely illustrated books encompassing the history of architecture and landscape design from the late 15th through mid-20th Century. These served as an educational resource and inspiration for generations of architects who created the built treasures Buffalo celebrates today. At ground level, experience the monumental scale of the grain elevators constructed in Buffalo in the first half of the twentieth century, and also see how they are now being repurposed.
