Chicken Wings

Ok, let’s get it out of the way – the chicken wing (known outside of our area as the “Buffalo wing”) is hands-down our most well-known food. First prepared by Teressa Bellissimo in 1964, the wing has gone on to become one of the most popular appetizers in restaurants around the country. Nearly 100,000 people flock to Downtown’s National Buffalo Wing Festival every year. And while wings are enjoyed at locations throughout Western New York, The Anchor Bar is the birthplace of the original chicken wing. Other popular wing destinations include Duff’s, Gabriel’s Gate, and Bar Bill. And to see what sort of wing eater you really are, take our Chicken Wing Personality test!
If you find that you enjoy wings enough to try making them at home, make sure to stop into one of our local supermarkets and pick up a bottle of Frank’s Red Hot. It is the sauce that best replicates the original Buffalo wing and make sure you use real butter!
