What goes better with a day of sun, sand and Lake Erie fun than a hot dog and ice cream cone? As the loyal customers of Connors Hot Dog Stand will tell you, not much. Connors has been around since 1944, and it’s only getting better with time.

Located on Lakeshore Road in Angola—just a few steps away from Evans Town Park and The Beach Club at Mickey Rats—Connors is open seven days a week from April through September. Longtime visitors will notice updates like an expanded area where orders are taken, helping the cafeteria-style line move along quicker. Good things take time, though, and Connors is very popular during the summer, so a brief wait is likely. Luckily, it’s always worth it.

Connors is known for its reliably delicious summer fare—things like hot dogs, burgers, Italian sausage with peppers and onions,  and French fries (oh those fries—thick-cut, crisp and homemade!). Nearly every menu item is less than $5, making it easy to bring the whole family without breaking the bank.

You place your order with one of the friendly staff members and pay, then slide your plastic red tray along the counter and get your food along the way: first drinks, then fries, then grilled items at the end, all made to order. Condiments have their own separate island, making the line even more efficient.

Everyone knows a cardinal rule of summer in Western New York is to end each meal with ice cream (at least, if you’re doing it right), and there’s an entire separate window and ordering area for ice cream at Connors. Whether you’re craving a sundae, milkshake, soft twist or Perry’s Ice Cream favorite, you’ll find your dessert of choice waiting.

There are roughly two dozen picnic tables and plenty of parking at Connors. Most of the seating is covered, a nice reassurance on those cloudy days. Visitors stroll in starting right at the 11 a.m. opening, sometime still covered in sand with damp hair, and continue through the day and night. The relaxed, bustling atmosphere and satisfying food make Connors a pleasant stop whether you’re just passing through or settled in for the summer.

Connors is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
