Winter in the BUF

Kudos to you on embracing the season and planning a winter getaway to Buffalo Niagara! All snowy vacations include a balance between indoor and outdoor activities and we’ve laid out the best of the best when it comes to celebrating winter in Buffalo.

Winter Coat On

Snowshoeing: Have an affinity for the white stuff? Get your heart pumping with some outdoor activities at Chestnut Ridge Park. Your menu of options isn’t limited to snowshoeing either. Give tobogganing, cross-country skiing or hiking a whirl instead.

Curling: From the Winter Olympics to Buffalo, New York, give curling a try at Buffalo Riverworks.

Ice Skating: Ice skating outdoors at Ice at Canalside is new! Practice that triple salchow on the frozen man-made canals at Buffalo’s waterfront.

Sightseeing: Tourists flock to Niagara Falls in the summer but one of our favorite times of year to visit is the winter. Your frosty visit to the Falls is the perfect winter postcard to send home to the family.

Winter Coat Off

Book an intimate fireplace suite at The Mansion on Delaware Avenue or Asa Ransom House to ensure you have the coziest of accommodations to warm up in after a day in the cold.

Head to one of Buffalo’s trendiest coffee shops to wrap your hands around a mug of caffe de leche at Sweet_ness 7 Café. Prefer more of an evening warm-up? Buffalo Proper’s skilled bartenders will whip you up a cocktail that will warm you from the inside out.

Catch a reprieve from the elements with a visit to one of the finest contemporary art galleries in the country, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.

Before you head home to hibernate for the rest of the winter, put a little meat on those bones with a hearty Italian dinner at Chef’s restaurant. Whatever you order, get it “parm’d:” baked under a layer of mozzarella cheese.
