Mayor Byron Brown to Officially Proclaim Friday As Back to Football Friday in Buffalo

WHAT: Mayor Brown will read a proclamation officially proclaiming Friday as Back to Football Friday in Buffalo. The National Football League and the Buffalo Bills are celebrating Friday, September 10, 2010 as Back to Football Friday in Buffalo and across the country. Students, schools, fans and businesses were urged to wear their team colors and host a "Back to Football Friday" event to celebrate the beginning of the NFL season on this Friday.

WHY: The Bills in partnership with the Buffalo-Niagara CVB, the Amherst COC, Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority and the United Way encouraged students and teachers in schools and area businesses in the Buffalo region to showcase their passion for their favorite NFL team on Friday, September 10. The local school that shows the most creativity and enthusiasm will be named an NFL PLAY 60 Super School by the NFL. They will be awarded a NFL player visit and a $10,000 grant to fund new physical education resources and equipment. A local business will receive a catered executive suite to a Bills home game for up to 25 people, and a runner-up business will receive a catered office party with the Buffalo Jills and Billy Buffalo courtesy of Tops Friendly Markets. Beginning Friday, companies can post Back to Football Friday photos on the Bills website www.buffalobills.com. Fans can vote for their favorite photos to determine the winning company.
